Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy in Horses

Shockwave therapy, or extracorporeal shockwave therapy (EST), is a procedure used to treat tendon, ligament, and bone injuries in horses. It is a procedure that uses sound waves to stimulate healing in injured areas of the horse. It results in faster and better quality healing. Shockwave therapy can be used in a variety of conditions, including: suspensory ligament injury, tendon disease, navicular syndrome, wound healing, neck or back pain and injuries, bone bruising, bucked shins, sore feet, and many other orthopedic problems. Shockwave therapy has also been used to provide mild, short-term pain relief.
