Kay was born in Camden, SC.  and grew up riding and showing hunters.  In high school she began working at the Camden track galloping Thoroughbreds.  She attended Clemson University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences in December 2005.  Prior to vet school, Kay worked at a large Thoroughbred farm in Lexington, KY caring for new foals and mares.

Kay attended the University of Georgia Veterinary School in 2006. There, her focus was on equine medicine. After completing externships at different equine hospitals, she traveled to Uganda where she worked with Veterinarians at the Uganda National Parks and Wildlife Center.  Upon returning Kay graduated from the UGA Veterinary School in 2010.  Always one to excel,  Kay graduated in the top 25% of her class.

Following vet school, Kay successfully completed a year long internship at Carolina Equine Hospital in Gibsonville, NC.  While in North Caroline Kay started her search for the ideal location to practice equine veterinary medicine.  Always fond of South Carolina, Kay decided Aiken would be a great location to call home.
