Using advanced and proven therapies, the Veterinarian
manages and documents the recovery of your horse. We
manage superficial digital flexor tendon injuries, deep
digital flexor tendon injuries, suspensory ligament
injuries, and many others.

|
The use of special Podiatry Pads, specific medications,
our custom Founder Stall equipped with special bedding,
and Digital Radiography allows the Veterinarian to document
the progress of your horse and give them the best chance
of a full recovery. After initially stabilizing your
horse Dr. Jacobs works closely with the farrier to prevent
further damage and provide stability so that healing
of the damaged tissues can occur.

Quality Veterinary care is
essential to the full recovery of your horse. Post surgical
horses often need constant support through the first stages
of recovery. The ability to provide this type of medical
service is indispensable to the health and well-being
of your horse.

Stem cell treatments enable the Veterinarian to offer
different treatments for horses with this condition.
Our controlled Rehabilitation Facility improves the
rehabilitation process.
|
|
|
Horses suffering from this common debilitating condition
can now receive stem cell treatments to provide long
term anti-inflammatory effects, decrease pain, stimulate
regeneration of cartilage tissue that slows degenerative
processes, and initiate healing in chronic and acute
injuries. These stem cell treatments along with joint
injections using hyalaronic acid and routine exams will
help to keep them performing at their best for as long
as possible. Hock, Fetlock, Carpus, Pastern, Coffin,
and Stifle Joints are managed.

Regardless of the type of wound your horse has suffered,
we can assist in the recovery process. Our laser has
proven to increase healing and minimize scaring. With
daily attention from our Veterinarian you can guarantee
your horse has the optimal environment to heal and return
to performance as soon as possible.

Some foals arrive sick and need extra attention immediately.
Others are born healthy and become ill after some time.
Vital signs in foals can change dramatically in a matter
of hours and it is important to monitor them closely
for the first few weeks of life. Foals are subject to
infections, colic, and what we call angular limb deformaties
(or crooked legs). When caught early we can return these
foals to a normal status and help them achieve full
and active careers.

Lesions in the eye of a horse, whether they be a simple
ulcer or a more serious condition such as a fungal infection
can often be an emergency. Due to the delicate tissue
involved an infection can rapidly progress to loss of
vision. We have the ability to treat the eye with antibiotics
using an elastic pump that continually delivers medication
directly onto the eye. This keeps the antibiotic levels
as high as possible and helps us keep the patient calm
and relaxed. The traditional method in the past has
been to manually place eye drops into the eye every
hour. With the development of the new elastic pump the
horses remain much happier through their recovery.

A variety of conditions can result in your horse having
abdominal pain (colic). We both diagnose and treat your
horses' condition with our advanced therapies. We have
state of the art technologies such as cameras available
so that critical monitoring of your horse can be accomplished.
We keep our intravenous fluids in an incubator so they
are always at the appropriate temperatures.

Horses have a variety of respiratory conditions that
can aflict them. Among them are Heaves or COPD, Guttural
Pouch Infections, Pneumonia, and Laryngeal dysfunction.
Treatment of these horses can involve many different
options. Among them is a mask that enables the horse
to recieve medication via an inhaler (like the ones
used by asthma patients). This device helps us to deliver
drugs directly to the cells in the respiratory tract
including the lungs where they are needed the most.

With new emerging diseases like West Nile, neurological
problems in horses aren't going away. Eastern and Western
Encephalomyelitis, Herpes Virus and of course Rabies
are a few others. The significant size of horses make
them much more difficult to treat compared to other
animals. Controlling the inflammation and making a correct
diagnoses are the biggest challenges. Unfortunately,
not all of these horses will make it. We do everything
in our power to help those we can make a full and complete
recovery.
